Many companies now choose imported orifice flow meters when purchasing, believing that imported products are of better quality than domestic ones, although they may be more expensive. The design concept of imported orifice flow meters is that the pressure-transmitting tube between the pressure tapping and the condensate pot is for vapor pressure tapping, with no condensate residue. However, the pressure-transmitting tube between the differential pressure transmitter and the condensate pot is filled with condensate. During operation, the outdoor ambient temperature is much lower than the steam temperature inside the pressure-transmitting tube, constantly forming condensate in the pressure-transmitting tube between the pressure tapping and the condensate pot.
The original installation position of the condensate pot was higher than the pressure tapping, so the condensate formed would flow back into the pipeline under gravity. However, due to the influence of surface tension in the pressure-transmitting tube, some condensate could not flow back into the steam pipeline, resulting in additional differential pressure.
To solve this problem and prevent additional differential pressure caused by different amounts of condensate residue in the two pressure-transmitting tubes, the two pressure-transmitting tubes from the pressure tapping to the condensate pot need to be installed horizontally. Even if the pressure-transmitting tubes are full of condensate, no additional differential pressure will be generated. When the imported orifice flow meter detection recovers to normal, the intermittent flow situation will not occur, thus comprehensively solving the problem of undetectable flow.
