Target flow switches are now widely used. Users need to understand the correct operating procedures and pay attention to certain details; otherwise, malfunctions may easily occur. So, what details should be considered when using a target flow switch? Let's take a closer look.
1. During normal use, the target flow plate of a target flow switch is constantly under water pressure, causing it to bend and deform. This easily leads to fatigue and damage. In large chiller maintenance, it's generally stipulated that the target flow plate must be replaced after two years of use. It's a consumable part and should be included in maintenance records. Smaller chillers often lack dedicated maintenance personnel, making timely detection difficult; issues are usually only addressed after a malfunction occurs.
2. Target flow switches cannot perform precise flow control. The insertion depth of the target flow plate, water pressure at the installation location, and pipe diameter all directly affect the flow protection value. Even with on-site flow meter calibration, the target flow plate's fatigue and subsequent bending and deformation over time will disrupt the relationship between the plate and flow rate, changing the initially calibrated flow value. This is an important point to note. Furthermore, because the copper bellows of the target flow switch is exposed to the atmosphere, its use in dual-condition chillers is not recommended due to the risk of failure.
The above details the points to consider when using a target flow switch. During maintenance, pay close attention to these aspects. This is especially important for smaller chillers; address issues promptly to avoid malfunctions.
