Imported orifice flowmeter is a differential pressure device capable of measuring flow. It can be used with other differential pressure gauges or differential pressure transmitters to measure the flow of various fluids in pipelines. It is currently widely applied in industries such as chemical, petroleum, light industry, and power. So, what are the precautions for selecting the differential pressure for an imported orifice flowmeter? Today, Eletta will give you a specific introduction.
1. Friends familiar with imported orifice flowmeters know that when the selected differential pressure is too large, the orifice will become very small, and relatively, the pressure loss will also be large. Since the imported orifice flowmeter inherently has a large pressure loss, adding this on top will consume a lot of cost for the entire process system. However, for a differential pressure transmitter, a larger differential pressure is more stable than a smaller one.
2. When the differential pressure value is large, an appropriate Reynolds number needs to be selected. The actual Reynolds number may be much larger than the recommended Reynolds number, which makes the flow coefficient tend to be stable and improves measurement accuracy. In addition, if the differential pressure value is relatively large, the required smaller straight pipe section can be shorter.
3. For integrated imported orifice flowmeters, after considering various economic factors, the orifice value with a larger differential pressure should be selected. For V-cone flowmeters, if the on-site fluid is a Newtonian fluid, the requirement for the straight pipe section itself is relatively low, and even if it's shorter, there will be no problems.
Through the above content, we have understood the precautions for selecting the differential pressure of an imported orifice flowmeter. Many factors need to be considered when choosing the differential pressure value, such as the straight pipe sections before and after, and uncertainty. When calculating the orifice value of an imported orifice flowmeter, do not blindly choose a large differential pressure; other relevant factors also need to be considered to ensure accurate measurement results.
