Many pipeline systems currently use imported orifice plate flow meters. Before using these flow meters, many operational specifications must be observed. First, when using imported orifice plate flow meters, newly installed flow meters or those that have been out of service for a period of time should be checked for leaks and blockages in the pressure tapping lines before use. The impact of mixed gases and gases entering the discharge pipeline on the medium should also be considered. Liquid accumulation can easily lead to inaccurate readings on the meter.
Second, various valves should be checked before formal use. Take the balancing valve, for example; the valves on the positive and negative pressure tapping lines must be completely closed before operation. To avoid errors and deviations in the flow meter readings, the zero point of the differential pressure transmitter should be checked and calibrated, and the differential pressure transmitter should be adjusted according to the actual situation.
Third, when using orifice plate flow meters with wastewater or other dirty liquids, a settler or isolator should be configured. The inlet and outlet of the pressure guiding fluid and the location of the drain should be reasonably selected, otherwise it will also affect the actual use.
Fourth, a situation that requires even more attention than wastewater is corrosive liquids. For such liquids, an isolator must be configured when using imported orifice plate flow meters; otherwise, corrosion will damage the equipment over time.
