In today's rapidly developing industrial landscape, orifice plate flow meters are frequently used measurement instruments in industrial measurement, with a very high frequency of use. With such high-frequency use, it is important to understand their various components for better and more accurate measurements. This article will discuss the function of the three-valve assembly in an orifice plate flow meter.
An orifice plate flow meter consists of pressure tapping devices, shut-off valves, a three-valve assembly, an intelligent differential pressure transmitter and temperature/pressure sensors, a flow totalizer, and other major components. The throttling device and differential pressure transmitter can be connected using positive and negative pressure conduits and valves. There is a shut-off valve on each of the positive and negative pressure lines at the differential pressure outlet, allowing the instrument to be started and stopped. Additionally, a positive pressure valve is installed on the positive pressure conduit near the instrument, a negative pressure valve is installed on the negative pressure conduit, and a connecting valve called a balancing valve is installed downstream of the positive and negative pressure valves. These three valves together form the three-valve assembly. The function of the three-valve assembly in an orifice plate flow meter is described below.
1. Enables a robust, integrated structure, reducing leak points;
2. Allows online verification of the transmitter's zero point and correction;
3. If the transmitter malfunctions and requires repair or replacement, this can be done without interrupting the process, making operation very convenient.
4. Zeroing and transmitter replacement procedure using the three-valve assembly: 1) Set valves F1 and F3 to the "fully closed" position (tighten clockwise); 2) Set valve F2 to the "slightly open" position (turn counterclockwise two turns); 3) After confirming that the two valves are in the correct state, zeroing, repair, or replacement can be performed.
5. Three-valve assembly operation procedure when restarting the transmitter: 1) First, "close" valve F2; 2) Set valves F1 and F3 to the "fully open" position. The transmitter will then enter the operating state.
6. The three-valve assembly can be used in the following situations: 1) To reduce process leak points. 2) When interrupting the process is not allowed. 3) To facilitate transmitter inspection or replacement. The above is information about the three valves in an orifice plate flow meter and an analysis of the function of the three-valve assembly. The throttling device is also known as a differential pressure flow meter, used for measuring the flow rate of steam and liquids. It features a simple structure, easy maintenance, and stable performance. It is hoped that the above content will be helpful in your future measurement applications.
